Kai Sai Chin Na Joint Locking
Chin Na(Chinese: 擒拿) is the set of joint lock techniques used in the Chinese martial arts to control or lock an opponent’s joints or muscles/tendons so he cannot move, thus neutralizing the opponent’s fighting ability.. This is completely different from the way the Kai Sai System applies Chin na. n the video below you will see Anthony Caucci demonstration on how Kai Sai Chin Na is used. Chin Na in the Kai Sai system is used to get a better position against your opponent. Once you have a superior position then a Kai Sai Finishing Technique will be applied. The finishing techniques are usually lethal. However, sometimes only very serious injury may occur. So when practicing Kai Sai Chin Na it is very important that it is done in a safe environment with a partner that will cooperate otherwise a serious injury may occur.
Some Chinese martial arts instructors focus more on their Chin na techniques than others. This is one of the many reasons why the Chin na of one school may differ from that of another. In the Kai Sai method Chin Na is used only when the opportunity presents itself as Sifu Anthony Caucci explains below.
